Introducing welbeck Tactics
Microsoft has made quite a bit of progress with Windows over the years. There have been some problems from time to time but, for the most part, they have been fixed. There have been good reports and reviews for Windows 7. It looks like Windows 8 will be even more powerful. Whatever version you have, though, you can learn a variety of tips to make your experience smoother.
You can make your life easier by using the Windows taskbar in the most efficient possible way. The taskbar is what you use when you want to launch a program, and also when you want to switch from one program that’s running to another one. If you want, or need, to run more than one version of the same program at the same time, this can limit you. The way things work usually is that if you click again on the icon for a program you are running, it will open the running version again. This
situation can easily be overcome if you depress and hold the SHIFT key and then click on the icon for the program that is already running. Do this as many times as you need to. Each time, you will open a new copy of the program.
How do you search for information online? Most of us open our browser and then initiate our search. Windows 7, however, has a neat feature that lets you search from your desktop and you don’t even need to open your browser. To do this, you use ‘search connectors’ for the different sites that you search; for example, YouTube. Think of how convenient this would be if you just wanted to do a fast search on one of your most frequently used websites without opening your browser! Many websites already have search connectors you can download and, if a particular site doesn’t have one, there are information sites that will show you how to create one.
Do you have a notebook PC or a laptop? Then you probably wish there was something you could do to extend the length of each charge. You can run an Energy Report with Windows 7 that tells you what you can do to increase the length of time your batter charge lasts. Just a few clicks will get you this Energy Report. Open the Start Menu and type CMD in the search box at the bottom. When the command prompt appears at the top, right click on it. Then, click on Run As Administrator. The next screen with be a dos screen. When the DOS screen appears, type ‘powercfg -ENERGY (leave off the quotes) at the DOS prompt and hit Enter. This command will ask your PC to generate a report that will tell you how you can save energy and improve the length of your battery’s charge. The report, if appropriate, will also suggest upgrades or drivers that you can change to or add to improve your computer’s efficiency. By following the recommendations in your Energy Report, you can often get longer charge times from your battery.
It only makes sense to benefit by all the many ways you can use Windows. The above are just a few helpful tips that can make Windows run more efficiently. It’s possible for anyone – no matter why they use a computer – to find shortcuts to make their tasks easier. Be open to searching for ways to enhance your computer experience and you will discover the many possibilities available to you.
